2. FIS World Cup Ski Jumping in Engelberg
19 & 20 December 2009

The competition you’ve been waiting for—the FIS World Cup Ski Jumping—is just around the corner. Be there when Swiss stars Simon Ammann and Andreas Küttel soar off the Titlis jump to heavenly heights—and maybe even break the hill record set by Sigurd Pettersen.

3. Rest and revitalize

Try the newly renovated Hotel Trübsee. On 11 December 2009 the totally renovated and updated hotel will open its doors. Check out its self-service restaurant, the Trübsee Bar, and the hotel’s big sun terrace overlooking the ski slope. A great place to relax and revitalize!

Or there’s Restaurant Ristis. Its upgraded and re-organized self-service area is now far more comfortable and convenient for guests who would like to enjoy Risti’s drinks and good food. Come see for yourself!

5. Chlausjassen; 6 December 2009
As every year around the Christmas holiday, the Tug o’ War Club of Engelberg organizes this card playing tournament. ‚Jass’ is a traditional Swiss card game. Young and old get together to play a round of it or just to watch. You’re welcome to come ‚try your hand’, too! It will take place on 06 December 2009 at the Hotel Europe starting at 8:00 p.m. Coffee and gingerbread are included in the sign-up fee. Engelberg’s Tug o’ War Club looks forward to seeing you there.   

6. Talmuseum; Folk Museum of Engelberg
Special exhibit beginning 13 December 2009
Within the collection housed in this traditional farmhouse (that is under historical protection), you’ll find several exhibits that document the history and culture of the monastery, the greater valley region and our local culture—especially in the areas of sports and tourism. Take this opportunity to get a glimpse and better understanding of life in this Alpine valley—as it was then and is now.

Special exibit: Rainer Barzen’s ‚AUGENBLICK MAL!’ (=Now, Look Here!)
Rainer Barzen’s works document various traditions of portrayal—influenced by processes and mechanisms of perception, psychology, suggestion, illusion and magic.

8. Stars on Ice, 27 December 2009

For the past five years the ISC and the Sporting Park of Engelberg have collaborated in organizing this traditional gala on ice. Stars of this year’s evening of entertainment are Nicole Graf (Swiss champion 2009), Moris Pfeifhofer (Swiss championship runner-up 2008),.three-time (2007, 2008 & 2009) Swiss Dance Pair champions Ramona Elsener and Florian Roost, French Comedy-Figure Skater Laurent Tobel, ‘The Team Dancers’ (a synchronized skating group and Swiss championship runner-ups 2009), as well as ‘The Swiss Ice Angels’—a professional Swiss show group, and all of the other club skaters. Top off this entertaining evening by collecting the performers’ autographs and then enjoying dinner at the Sporting Park restaurant.
