| 2. Swiss Snow Walking Event Engelberg, 1 February 2009 After Arosa and Leysin, we’re anxiously awaiting the next Swiss Snow Walking Event that will take place in Engelberg on 1 February 2009. Short, crazy or whatever, there is sure to be a walking stretch just right for you. Take part in the incredibly unforgettable Swiss Snow Walking Event—enjoy the magnificent winter landscape in and around Engelberg! Get ready! In anticipation of this event, a fitness and health forum will take place at Hotel Europe on 31 January 2009. Late registration: Should you decide at the last minute that you want to participate in this exciting event, you can register at the Information Desk at Sporting Park Erlen. Cross-Country Night Sprint, 13 February 2009 Near the site of the recent World Cup Ski Jumping Event excitement reigns again as cross-country skiers do their rounds on the groomed tracks behind the Sporting Park Engelberg, competing for top ranking. The Cross-Country Ski Night Sprint will take place on 13 Februar 2009, starting at 6:30 p.m. Directly after the competition, cross-country athletes and event spectators can warm up over a hot plate of ‚Hörnli & G’hackets’ (macaroni & ground beef) served at the Sporting Park! | 4. Kidz Biathlon, 14 February 2009 On Saturday, 14 February 2009, the day after the Cross-Country Ski Night Sprint, there will be a Kidz Biathlon. At the sound of the starting gun at 5:30 p.m. the races will begin. Come out and cheer our young athletes on! Watch how they give their all to prove their cross-country ski and shooting abilities within their designated divisions. For further details |  |
| 5. Snow Sports Show, 18 & 25 February 2009 Just as in previous years the Swiss Ski School of Engelberg-Titlis will ‚strut their stuff’, demonstrating what they can do on all levels. Watch them ‚perform’ on 18 & 25 February 2009 starting at 7:30 p.m. DJ Speaker will provide entertainment, and there will be a bar serving warm drinks and snacks. Yodeler Concert, 27 February 2009 New sounds and old familiar favorites will fill the air on Friday, 27 February 2009, in Engelberg’s monastery church at 8:00 p.m. The Yodeler Club of Engelberg, as well as other performers, invite you to join them for an evening of ‚heavenly’ music and special ambience. | 7. Time to get crazy in Engelberg! Engelberg’s Mardi Gras craziness began in January as several ‚Gugge’ band concerts heralded in the season up on Titlis. Now festival fever has hit the town! On 7 February 2009 Fasnacht fans will fill the streets to celebrate; don’t miss the traditional Monster Concert. This year’s theme is ‚Pirates of Engelberg’. Local Fasnacht musicians—the Brunnischränzer—as well as guest ‚Gugge’ bands from other towns will be here to ‚pump you up’ as you become part of the excitement beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the town park (Kurpark) and afterwards in the adjoining Kursaal, where the merriment continues! The traditional parade will take place this year on 21 February 2009. At 8:00 p.m. colorful, funny—even frightening—costumed figures will make their way along the Dorfstrasse toward the town park (Kurpark). Then in the adjacent Kursaal (entertainment hall) the party celebrations will continue into the wee hours...time to get crazy in Engelberg! It doesn’t stop there! On 7, 19, 20, 21 & 22 February 2009 the celebrations move onto the slopes. ‚Gugge’ bands will provide the music and party-feeling up at Berghotel Trübsee (in the afternoon) and at the Chalet (for après-ski) near the base station of Titlis. |  |
| 8. New Caledar-Brochure This winter a new calendar- brochure of the Engelberg-Titlis region is available. The calendar contains attractive photos of Engelberg’s surroundings, ‚heavenly’ recipes, practical tips for your next visit to Engelberg and more... For some this will be a reminder of the most wonderful days of the year spent here and will hopefully awaken the longing to return to the monastery town soon.
