3. Three Kings Concert, 3 January 2009

Under the direction of Andreas Brenner the Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Central Switzerland will perform their Three Kings Concert at 8:15 p.m.  Joining the Young Philharmonic musicians will be the trio „Sonaare“, with Kristina Rohn-Madzarac on piano, Felix Froschhammer playing the violin, and Florian Rohn playing the cello. Admission is free. Donations, which will go toward the renovation costs of the church, are welcome and can be made at the door.

4. Speed Check Day, 4 January 2009

Once a month it’s time to discover  just how fast skiers and snowboarders can go when shussing down the Speed Slope at Jochpass. Who will be clocked at 50 km/h on the radar speed panel? See for yourself on Speed Check Day at Jochpass. At 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  speeds will be clocked up at the Jochpass. After 4:00 p.m. there will be an awards ceremony at the „Chalet“ aprés-ski bar.

6. Winter Tales, 9 January 2009

Listen to Engelberg local, Robi Kuster, tell mystical tales and all about folklore near the Fürenalp. Enjoy the wonderful fresh air as you go on a guided snowshoe tour, and warm your fingertips and toes at the campfire while you enjoy a cup of Glühwein (mulled wine). The hike begins at 3:45 p.m.

7. (Gugge!) Music Power on Mount Titlis,
17, 24, 25 & 31 January 2009

It’s Mardi Gras time! Time to get crazy! And the place to do it is up on Mount Titlis…where various Guggenmusik bands will play and strut their musical stuff on several afternoons at Hotel Trübsee and outside the “Chalet” après-ski bar at the valley lift station. Feel the good vibrations (literally!) that several regional “Gugge”bands will produce for you--with heart and soul, and all in the spirit of Fasnacht!
