2. Piano Engelberg, 2 & 3 October 2009

Piano Engelberg pays tribute to Alexis Weissenberg, who celebrated his 80th birthday on the 26th of July.  A documentary film about Weissenberg will be shown, and outstanding performers will play works ranging from Schumann to Tchaikovsky, including works by Weissenberg, in the Baroque Hall of the monastery.  Ticket prices start at SFr 50.-, Students can purchase tickets for SFr 10,- per concert. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Tourist Center.

3. Ängelmärliberg – Engelberg Fairy Tale Days,
9 to 18 October 2009

The first annual Engelberg Fairy Tale Days will take place when the local foliage provides a backdrop of spectacular autumn hues. The tales and legends will not just appeal to children, older listeners will be able to enjoy storytelling entertainment long after the kids have gone to bed. Enter the land of sprites and gnomes, enjoy the mystery and magic! For youngsters up to 14 years there will be painting and handicrafts contests. For contest details (in German).

4. Cattle show on the Ochsenmatt Meadow,
16 October 2009

This farmer’s fest marks the impending end of the Alpine summer for Engelberg’s local residents and guests. Starting at 9:00 a.m. the tents will open with refreshments, there will be stands of local wares, pony-trkking and much more. At 10.45 a.m. until at 3:00 p.m. the cattle will be lined up for farmers are awarded prizes for their best cows. The legendary "Rindspfeffer" gets served for dinner. Dancing and entertainment will round out the day’s program in the evening.


5. Academia Engelberg: An evening open to the public,
14 October 2009

Sports and Violence? The reasons and justifications for the incidence of violence at sports events are manifold. Social circumstances as well as financial aspects, factors of socialization and cultural context all contribute to the occurence of violence. Forum participants will include Adolf Ogi (former Federal Councilor) and Rolf Fringer, current coach for Football Club Lucerne. The forum begins at 8:00 p.m. at Hotel Europe.

7. Season’s Ticket: Pre-season sales at the end of September 2009

8 months of snowsport fun on Engelberg’s diverse slopes and trails from heights of 1000 to 3020 meters. Purchase your Winter Season Ticket on or before 31 October 2009 and save 5% (based on the regular price) for buying early. Are 221 days of snowsports too much to handle? Then check into the Glacier Season’s Pass or the Main Season Winter Pass or the Spring Season Pass as attractive alternatives.

8. Win tickets to the cinema!

From 28 September through 11 October, even the youngest filmgoers will be able to enjoy the latest in cinematic entertainment. Animated films such as "Ice Age 3", "Coraline" and "Up ".head the list of showings, in addition to other current adult hits such as "Everyone Else/ Alle andern", "Julia's Disappearance/ Guilias verschwinden" or "Mamma Mia". 9. FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Engelberg 2009,
19 & 20 December 2009

Who hasn’t dreamed of seeing the ski jumping stars up close and watching the winning jump from the world’s largest natural ski jump? Well, the VIP-Ticket makes it possible!
