| 2. Angel Auction, 30 May 2009 A year has passed in which 45 individually decorated angel statues—each a unique piece of art—have graced this monastery town. On Saturday,May 30th, at 1:30 p.m. ten of them will be auctioned off in the town park (‚Kurpark’), thus bringing this creative ‚Angels in Engelberg’ project to a close. Beginning at twelve noon there will be refreshment stands and music in the park and plenty of activities for the kiddies. | 3. Culinary Tales & Moonlight Hike, 5 June 2009 What could be more exciting than a moonlit hike under a starry sky? Walking through the myterious mountain world at night—something that’s sure to fuel your imagination! Local storywriter and poet Robi Kuster will take you over the Surenen Pass while you listen to his stories (told in Swiss German) and stop at cozy little alpine lodges along the way where you’ll try regional culinary specialties. | 4. Engelbergs Summer Event, 19 – 21 June 2009 Culture Night: On Friday, 19 June 2009 at around 6 p.m., there will be a Culture Dinner evening at Hotel Europe. The main entertainment will begin at 8:30 p.m. when Rolf Schmid, Swiss comedian, performs. Additionally, there will be an art exhibit by Paul Lussi at Hotel Waldegg. Engelberg Valley -Trophy: Crazy about sports?! On 20 June 2009 go the distance—from Stans to Engelberg—on inline skates, by mountain bike or jogging. Participants can either complete the course in a team or individually. A variety of organized activities for children and youths will take place in the town park (Kurpark). The fun begins when booths open around 10:30 a.m. Yodeler Sunday Service and Älpler Brunch: The annual Yodeler Sunday Service will be held for the first time up at the SAC Brunnihütte (Brunni Alpine Lodge) on 21 June 2009. Service begins at 10:00 a.m., and directly afterwards at around 11:00 a.m. there will be an Älpler Brunch. Organized activities for children are also planned, as well as a guided hike and tour of a local cheesemaker’s. For more information |

| 6. Muuhf it!, 20/21 June 2009 „Physical and mental fitness are fun!“ That’s the motto for the Muuhf it! seminar. The idea is to have a two-day workshop on Lake Trübsee for overweight children (between the ages of 10 and 15) and their parents, and to give them an introduction to the out-patient group program, which is conducted over a period of months by a team of professionals. On this weekend participants will be guided through a number of activities having to do with themes such as nutrition, physical exercise and mental training—all connected with the outdoors for an active and positive experience." | 7. Racer Bikes Cup, 27 & 28 June 2009 Ready, steady, go! It’s almost time for the Racer Bikes Cup Race, part of the national Mountain Bike Racing Tour of Switzerland, which will be taking place in Engelberg for the first time. Starting near the Titlis Ski Jump, the route will then take a turn upwards into Gerschni Forest. A spectacular descent will lead the competitors back to the finish line located at the Titlis Rotair base station. The race promises to be an exciting event for both riders and spectators. | 8. Hiking the Aa Canyon After the dramatic floods of 2005 the popular hiking trails of the Aa Canyon, which stretch from Engelberg to Grafenort, were inaccessible for quite a while. Thanks to extensive clean-up and restoration efforts, the canyon trails were reopened this past autumn. Some stretches of the canyon trail had to be relocated. Three spectacular new hanging bridges lead hikers over the impressive canyon landscape. Find more information here. |  |
