Engelberg – what could be nearer?
Engelberg is very easily accessible, right in the middle of Switzerland. Only 20 kilometers from the motorway by car, or a comfortable ride from Lucerne by train on the Zentralbahn line, direct to the monastery village of Engelberg – what could be nearer?
By train From Lucerne there is a direct hourly service to Engelberg operated by the Zentralbahn. In addition, regular comfortable Intercity or Eurocity trains run to Lucerne.
Travel in comfort overnight from Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands with CityNightLine, Europe's most modern night train.
Travel from London to Switzerland by train. Excellent overnight connections give you the option of an extra couple of days on the slopes. Sleepers on night trains allow you to travel in comfort whilst doing your bit for the environment.
By air On arrival in Basel or Zurich, you have hourly direct rail connections to Lucerne, and then from Lucerne again direct rail connections to Engelberg.
By road Engelberg is easily accessible from all directions by car. There are motorways from Geneva via Bern, from Basel directly to Lucerne or from St. Gallen via Zurich (Gotthard route). Leave the A2 motorway at the Stans-Süd exit (16 kms after Lucerne) and take the direction Engelberg, which is reached after 20 kms of excellent road.
