Fürenalp (1,850 M a.s.l.)


Treat yourself to a visit to the Fürenalp mountain restaurant. Here you can feast your eyes upon the unique view of the majestic mountains as you tuck in to delicious dishes served up in a cosy mountain restaurant. The choice of lunchtime specials and delicious deserts are simply irresistible – not to mention the special Fürenalp coffees that come with a warming shot of alcohol.


Blackenalp (1,773 M a.s.l.)


Enjoy a small snack at Blackenalp – roughly a one-hour walk from the Fürenalp mountain station and the perfect stop-off for hikers on the Surenenpass.


Hobiel (1,673 M a.s.l.)


From June to September, Hobiel throws open its doors to hikers and anyone seeking rest and recuperation. This small Alpine settlement is situated around two hours on foot from the Surenenpass, making it an ideal starting point for hikers or the perfect spot to rest once the walk has been completed.

But even those with no plans to hike are welcome to come and recharge their batteries with food, drink, sleep and plenty of peace, quiet and mountain air. There is also a small Alpine restaurant and dormitory accommodation – both of which guarantee a personal welcome.


Äbnet (1,670 M a.s.l.)


The family-run terrace pub at Äbnet is open from mid-June to late September. It can be easily reached on foot from the Fürenalp mountain station, and just next door you can catch the Äbnet cableway down to Stäfeli.



Stäfeli (1,393 M a.s.l.)


The Stäfelialp mountain restaurant lies at the far end of the Engelberg valley, ready to sate hungry hikers with its fine Alpine produce including cheeses and meat platters. Overnight accommodation is also available.


Alpenrösli (1,258 M a.s.l.)


When marvelling at the majestic Alpine peaks from the village of Engelberg, turn your gaze to the jagged pinnacle of the Spannort at the end of the valley. Following the river Aa for seven kilometres into the valley in the direction of this peak, you arrive at the Alpenrösli restaurant, located 1,258 metres above sea level. Here you can take a seat out on the terrace or inside the cosy guesthouse and enjoy a delicious lunch, an evening platter of Alpine cheeses and smoked meats, or a tempting desert.
