7 reasons for winter holidays in Engelberg

Are you still not quite sure whether you should spend your winter holidays in Engelberg? These seven reasons should clear up the last doubts.

1. guaranteed snow
Engelberg advertises its snow guarantee and does not do so by chance. The first pistes on the Titlis open as early as October and snow is guaranteed until the end of May. Is it possible that not a single piste will be open due to a lack of snow? Not a chance...

2. monster run
How strong are your legs? Find out during your winter holidays in Engelberg and ski from the Titlis at 3020 metres above sea level down to the valley at 1000 metres. The fact that a chairlift is used to traverse Lake Trübsee on the twelve-kilometre-long piste should help those burning thighs.

3. paradise for freeriders
The "Big 5" or freeride pleasures to the power of 5. Engelberg is a freeride Mecca - thanks to plenty of snow and the Laub, Sulz, Steintäli, Steinberg and Galtiberg runs, which can be reached without climbing and comfortably by train. We recommend booking a trained mountain guide.

4. off the beaten track thanks to ski tours
Away from the hustle and bustle of the pistes and away from the famous "Big 5", Engelberg and the surrounding area offer various opportunities for ski tours where you can definitely switch off from everyday life. The "High 5" are particularly recommendable. These include the tours to the Salistock, Brisen, Ruchstock, Titlis round tour or the Uri Haute Route. Here, too, a mountain guide is recommended.

5. for non-skiers
Winter holidays do not have to be spent on (or next to) the ski slopes. Engelberg offers enough alternatives to enjoy the white splendour in other ways: The cross-country ski trails on the Gerschnialp and in Engelberg are inviting, snowshoeing is possible and there is also a network of winter hiking trails.

6. for families
Another cool thing about Engelberg is that there is something for everyone. While the slopes on the Titlis are more for experienced skiers, the sunny slopes of Brunni are more leisurely. The very little ones will find a paradisiacal beginners' area on the Klostermatte, where even Globi regularly stops by. Beginners are also in good hands on Gerschnialp and Untertrübsee. And if things don't go so well on the piste, you can simply switch to the toboggan.

7 Bad weather - does it even exist?
If it's too windy or snowy, you can take advantage of various indoor activities. Just a few tips: swimming in the Sonnenberg indoor pool or the Eienwäldli rock pool, doing an activity in the Sporting Park (tennis, ice skating, climbing, etc.), stopping off at a mountain hut or café in the village, or maybe even taking a trip to Lucerne (shopping, sightseeing, the Museum of Transport), visiting the Valley Museum. The list could go on...
