The Alpkäse Trail leads past seven alpine cheese dairies where you can rest, refresh yourself and look over the shoulder of the alpine farmers. In the following you will find out what else awaits you on this enjoyable hike and receive valuable tips for your tour planning.

Alpine cheese trail stages

Each section of this enjoyment hike takes you to incomparably beautiful alps high above Engelberg and promises you fantastic moments of enjoyment. Below you will find all the information about the individual sections of the alpine cheese trail and can then decide which route suits you best.

Entire tour

47 km

The entire alpine cheese trail has a length of 47km, overcomes 2000 meters in altitude and takes you once around Engelberg. At various places there is the possibility to use cable cars to make the ascent or descent easier. The whole round tour is perfect for a weekend trip. Day tour: Untertrübsee - Gerschnialp

8.5 km

The day tour Untertrübsee - Gerschnialp with start and finish in Engelberg, is short, easy to walk, varied and equipped with many refreshment stops. Therefore, it is also perfect for families and can be completed by (e-)bike.

Day tour: Engelberg - Blackenalp

19.9 km

The Blackenalp is located at the outermost tip of Engelberg on Uri soil. The route leads through the wild and romantic Surenental valley with its countless waterfalls and a magnificent, unspoilt natural landscape. A cable car facilitates the ascent and three alpine cheese dairies invite you to stop for a bite to eat. The Blackenalp offers overnight accommodation, so that this stage can also be planned as a leisurely 2-day tour.

Day tour: Engelberg - Brunni

13.3 km

This circular hike on the Alpkäse Trail is particularly family-friendly and takes you to the sunny Brunni region. Two alpine cheese dairies can be visited and combined with a ride on the cable car and toboggan run as well as a visit to the playground.

E-bike trails

The alpine cheese trail by e-bike? That is also possible. Explore the history of alpine cheese leisurely on our e-bike routes without breaking a sweat. Three different routes are waiting to be explored.
