How to get there with the Zentralbahn & Stanserhorn Railway
Your adventure begins as soon as you arrive in Stans via the Zentralbahn. From there, you’ll first take the historic Stanserhorn Railway funicular, and then the world’s first CarbiO aerial tramway with an open upper deck will take you to the summit—an experience in itself.
Tip: Plan to spend a little extra time on the Stanserhorn and enjoy the 360° view of 10 Swiss lakes and 100 km of the Alpine range, including the Titlis.
Stage 1: Stanserhorn – Alp Laucheren
The actual hike begins on the Stanserhorn. After a short while, the voices fade away and you hike in peace toward the Titlis. The first stage leads to Alp Laucheren, where you can rest or spend the night in a tent.
Stage 2: Alp Laucheren – Engelberg
The second section follows the nature trail with spectacular views. At the key section “Wagenleis,” sure-footedness is essential. Here, the trail leads along the exposed ridge.
Option to extend: 4-Lakes Hike
For those with energy the next day: The 4-Lakes Hike is the perfect addition, turning this into a circular tour through the Engelberg mountain world.
