There is hardly anything that spreads as much happiness and joy as skiing. And no one embodies this joy as beautifully as the Engelberg legend "Snowflake".
But who is he? At the proud age of 77, he has the most skiing days in Engelberg to his name. He never misses an opportunity to pursue his passion and prefers to be on the skis every day. In this way he comes to an astonishing over 150 ski days per season.
It is his absolute passion: not only on the slopes, but also on the world-famous freeride slopes of Engelberg, "Snowflake" sweeps through the deep snow with a broad grin. This feeling of happiness is simply infectious, and "Snowflake" really has every reason to smile. Engelberg, the freeride Eldorado, fulfills all the dreams of a happiness millionaire.
In the winter of 2022-23, he spent 168 days skiing in the Engelberg-Titlis ski area, out of a possible total of more than 200. More skiing days were added after the ski area closed on multiple ski tours. This means that Snowflake is on his skis every second day of the year.
Engelberg-Titlis Tourism as well as the mountain railways recommend that all skiers wear a helmet and bring the appropriate equipment when freeriding. We therefore asked Snowflake why he refrains from using the modern safety options. Find his answer in the video below.
