Passing by seven different Alpine dairies, the Alpine Cheese Trail is an attractive hiking route through Engelberg’s varied natural landscape. At the farms, you will learn all there is to know about traditional Alpine cheeses and the hard lives of the Alpine farmers who graze their animals up in the mountains each summer.
The Zittergrat on the Brunnistöckli above the Brunnihütte is the ideal place to playfully venture on more difficult via ferrata routes. It was specially set up as a short and difficult practice via ferrata.

The relatively short Zittergrat via ferrata at Brunnistöckli is a supplement to the "normal" Brunnistöckli via ferrata. While the "normal" is ideal for beginners, the Zittergrat is already a short excursion into the world of more extreme via ferratas. Fans are offered a relatively short, extremely steep and exposed via ferrata, where you can make your first experiences in the upper difficulty levels. It is excellently secured, south-facing and very strenuous.
The via ferrata is suitable for experienced via ferrata climbers, surefootedness, head for heights and arm strength are required. It is recommended to check the current weather forecast for the destination region.
