The Berglodge Restaurant Ristis was completely renovated in summer 2019. In addition to 220 indoor and 250 outdoor seats and seven guest rooms with a total of 41 beds, a photovoltaic system was invested in the roof. This was awarded the Swiss Solar Prize Diploma 2021.

Engelberg is continuously committed to the efficient use of energy, climate protection, renewable energies and environmentally friendly mobility.

Energy City

Since 2011 Engelberg can call itself energy city. Since the winter season of 2019/20 more than half of the heat comes form a new, ecological wood heating plant.

Free Bus

Use the free bus in Engelberg. The bus takes you regularly to all the railroad station as well as all the hotspots in the valley.

Up on the mountains

All cablecars in Engelberg are operated by environmentally friendly hydropower. The Brunni mountain railroad is the first and so far only climate-neutral, certified facility in Switzerland.

Comfortably to Engelberg

Travel environment friendly to Engelberg. An hourly train brings you from Lucerne to Engelberg. Due to its central location, the destination can be reached easily and comfortably by public transport.

Recycling

Thanks to the waste disposal center in the village, you can separate your waste and dispose of it properly. Also on the Titlis, the waste is collected in different containers and then taken to the valley.

Good and regional

For a better future

Engelberg will cover its own electricity needs from 2022 with 100% renewable electricity and from 2030 with an additional 50% green electricity.
