High altitude hikes / bike trails above 1800 m such as the 4-Lakes Hike, Jochpass Trails, Surenenpass and Walenpfad are still covered in snow and therefore closed. You can find more info about the open trails here.

THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES ARE PURSUED BY THE MUNICIPALITY OF ENGELBERG: 

  • In Engelberg more and more houses are being built with groundwater pump heating systems or with woodchip heating systems.
  • Engelberg will cover its own electricity requirements from 2022 with 100% renewable electricity and from 2030 additionally with 50% green electricity.
  • The municipality will reduce the electricity demand for municipal buildings and facilities by 20% by 2030 compared to 2010.
  • Engelberg reduces the energy demand for hot water and space heating by 25% by 2030 compared to 2010
