Passing by seven different Alpine dairies, the Alpine Cheese Trail is an attractive hiking route through Engelberg’s varied natural landscape. At the farms, you will learn all there is to know about traditional Alpine cheeses and the hard lives of the Alpine farmers who graze their animals up in the mountains each summer.

BY TRAIN: From Lucerne the train goes directly to Engelberg. The journey takes 43 minutes and leads through beautiful landscapes. Departure every hour.
FREE BUS: In Engelberg there is a free bus in summer as well as in winter. You will find two bus lines that lead you directly to cable car valley station.

BY CAR OR COACH
Take the Motorway A2 (Basel-Luzern-Gotthard) to Stans-south. From there follow the main road for 20 km to Engelberg. Engelberg is about 30 minutes from Lucerne. From Zurich you need about 1 h 15 min, and from Bern or Basel approximatly 1 h 45 min.

At Brunni-Bahnen Engelberg AG you have a big parking space available. Parking costs CHF 5.00 per day.
