ALPINE CHEESE TRAIL
Passing by seven different Alpine dairies, the Alpine Cheese Trail is an attractive hiking route through Engelberg’s varied natural landscape. At the farms, you will learn all there is to know about traditional Alpine cheeses and the hard lives of the Alpine farmers who graze their animals up in the mountains each summer.

This pleasant hike leads out ofthe valley along a narrow path, winding along the edge of thewoods until you reach the littlechapel – visible from a goodway off – next to the Schwandguesthouse. This is a wonderful place to stop for a rest. Youhave several options to choo-se from for the return journey.Probably the nicest variant which does include a few extrametres of ascent – leads youacross the Bergli and to the Flühmatt restaurant, where you can enjoy possibly the best Älp-lermagronen in Engelberg on the sunny terrace.
