This route takes bikers into another world. Quiet and almost somewhat mysterious, it follows the Niedersurenen valley along the Engelberger Aa towards Surenenpass. Always with the massive Spannörter with their special shape in sight.

Engelberg train station is the starting point of the Engelberg-Stäfeli route. Start heading towards Engelbergerstrasse, turning left at the intersection. Ride the first section along it, passing the Sportingpark and the monastery. At the second road junction, keep right and turn onto Oberbergstrasse. Still flat and on asphalt, pedal between the last houses of Engelberg. When the houses end, the surface changes to gravel and the path becomes a bit narrower. When quiet, you can already hear, besides the riding sound, a rushing that slowly becomes roaring. It comes from the waterfall that gives the restaurant on the right-hand side its name. Passing the valley station of the Fürenalp cable car, you first ride on an asphalt road. Soon the road climbs and the easy pedaling ends. The valley narrows, and after about 1.5 km, the road forks and becomes a natural road. Were it not for the rushing of the Engelberger Aa, the river that accompanies you all along the way, it would be almost eerily quiet. The restaurant Alpenrösli, covered by fir trees, comes at the right moment - a stop is recommended here. Not only because the mountain hut is known for its rösti and good desserts. You should also relax your legs a bit before the last, short but steep ascent to Stäfeli, the intermediate goal of the route. Refreshed, you then take the last stage under the wheels. With the impressive Spannörter in sight, the somewhat rough gravel and the steep road demand a lot. Arrived at the mountain restaurant Stäfeli, the cozy terrace awaits you. The return to Engelberg is then on the other side of the river. Pedal hard one more time, and then follow the water all the way back to the village. The root-covered path is technically more demanding than the outbound route but is well rideable. Only when crossing the small glacier stream do you have to briefly get off your bike. Shortly before the Fürenalp valley station, the path turns back onto the asphalt road and leads over Wasserfallstrasse back to the starting point of the route.
