From Engelberg railway station, the starting point of the bike tour to Walenalp, you go through the Dorfstrasse, past the Tourist Center (stop recommended for the last good tips) and always in the direction of the monastery. After the Viktoriagärtli, the park on the left, turn left onto Schwandstrasse. From here the paved road climbs pleasantly between the houses of Engelberg. Once you have reached the Hotel Waldegg, it is worth taking a first look over the village and towards Titlis. Continue on the same road through the forest until you see the mountain inn Schwand. A short stop for refreshments is recommended here before the further ascent. Freshly fortified, you now take the path under your wheels. At the fork shortly after the restaurant you drive straight ahead. Continue on the road to Wandalp, from where a gravel path leads to the destination of Walenalp. The Swiss family fireplace right next to the alp invites you to catch your breath and linger (don't forget to pack sausage and bread). The magnificent view of the Engelberg Valley makes you forget the altitude difference you have made. Back to the valley and to the starting point of the tour, you follow the same route.
