This scenic transition hike connects the Sinsgäuer Alps with the Uri Isenthal. With the small cable cars Fell–Spis and Spis–Sinsgäu, the long ascent from Oberrickenbach can be significantly shortened, so the tour starts directly in alpine terrain.

From Sinsgäu, the path leads over Widderen and the Rinderstafel up to the Sinsgäuer Schonegg. The route passes through varied pasture and alpine areas and offers beautiful views down into the valley and wide mountain vistas along the way.

At the Sinsgäuer Schonegg, an impressive panorama opens up: on the left rises the Hoh Brisen, on the right extends the Oberalper ridge from the Chaiserstuel to the Bärenstock. Also prominent in the landscape are a rock hole and a solitary rock with a cross, known locally as the "Stockzahnd".

Then the path leads more steeply down into the Uri Sulztal. At the Sulzhütte, keep left and follow a wide, mostly flat forest path past peat bogs to Gitschenen. The hike ends there at the cable car station.

Small cable cars on this tour:

    • Fell-Spis
    • Spis-Sinsgäu
    • Gitschenen

    Author’s recommendation

    • 15 minutes from the Sinsgäu mountain station, the Alpbeizli Haghütte invites you for a coffee or fried cheese
    • For the return trip to St. Jakob, it is advisable to check the timetable in advance.
