The walk starts at Engelberg train station and leads right through the village to the Engelberger Aa. A little below the Sportingpark, the bridge leads over the river and onto the Professorenweg. From there you walk with the Engelberger Aa on the left and the edge of the forest on the right on the flat path all the way to the Sporthotel Eienwäldli where you can fortify yourself for the first time. The path changes the river side and leads along the road to the Fürenalp valley station, the end point of the walk.
Back to the village you can either take the free sports bus (note the timetable) or follow the Schweizerhausstrasse past the Wasserfall restaurant and across the Klostermatte to the Engelberg monastery.
