This variant of the Walen path connects the Bannalp area with Engelberg and combines the high-altitude hike with two distinctive small cable cars.
The cable car Fellboden–Bannalpsee comfortably takes you to the Bannalp area at the start. From there, the path leads with great views over Walegg and Walenalp towards Brunni. Along the way, impressive views of Bannalpsee, the Walenstöcke, and far into the Engelberg valley open up repeatedly. The Walen path is one of the most beautiful high-altitude hikes in Switzerland and impresses with a varied, increasingly alpine route high above the valley.
After a break at the Brunni hut, the descent continues over Ristis further to Oberbord. There, the Bordbahn, a traditional Buiräbähnli, awaits as the atmospheric conclusion of the tour back down to the valley. This variant thus combines impressive landscapes, classic high-altitude hiking, and two charming small cable cars into a particularly varied day experience.
