From Engelberg railway station, the starting point of the 4-lake bike tour+, you go to the valley station of the TITLIS mountain railway and continue left over the tarred Gerschnistrasse (you must expect factory traffic on the road) in the direction of Untertrübsee. Past the Untertrübsee Alp, a gravel road turns left after about one kilometre. Strong legs are required from that point on. The coarse gravel makes high demands on stamina and driving technique. The view of the Titlis and the knowledge that the chairlift will take you up to the top will make you forget the exertions. The 400 meters of altitude difference from Trübsee to the Jochpass can be mastered with the chairlift. From here it's over a beautifully laid out single trail (1 metre wide) towards Lake Engstlen. Short break due? Tired biker feet can cool down and relax here. Once you have passed the lake, you follow a sliding passage of approx. 600m along the Spycherflue up to Tannalp. Now it's on a wide tarred road along the deep blue Tannalpsee and beautiful alpine pastures, comfortably down towards the Melchsee. Arriving on Melchsee-Frutt, the trail leads along the Melchtalerstrasse to Stöckalp. This road can only be driven downhill at odd hours (e.g. 11.00-11.40 a.m.). Through the Melchtal valley at St. Niklausen to Kerns on the main road. In the village centre of Kerns follow the road in the direction of Stans. Once you have arrived in the idyllic village centre of Stans, it is best to recharge your batteries in the Gelateria before returning to Engelberg. You have to cover a short distance on the main road until you reach the turnoff before the level crossing. Turn right at the small chapel onto the cycle path. All along the Engelberger Aa, the path climbs slightly to Grafenort. From here the base changes to gravel. The narrow gravel path meanders idyllically up and down, along the water to the beautiful fireplace. Time for refreshment from your backpack, because from now on strong legs are required. The numerous bridges on the way to Engelberg are the only places where you can take a breather. Once the first houses of the Örtigen have been reached, you have climbed the meters and go down to Lake Eugenisee. Back to the train station and the starting point of the tour, the last few metres are back on the main road.
