Winter hiking trails
The Engelberg region, with more than 70 km of winter hiking trails, is a paradise for winter hikers. The well-prepared trails lead through snow-covered forests and landscapes. Enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of the Alps, the fresh mountain air and the sweet sound of snow crunching under your feet.
Professorenweg inland

The winter trail starts at Engelberg Station and leads right through the village to the Engelberger Aa. Just below the Sporting Park, the bridge crosses the river to the Professorenweg. From there, you hike with the Engelberger Aa on the left and the forest edge on the right along the well-maintained and flat winter trail all the way to the Sporthotel Eienwäldli, where cold feet and hands can be warmed with a hot cup of tea. The path changes sides of the river and leads along the road to the Fürenalp valley station, the end point of the winter hiking route.
Return to the village either by the free sports bus (check timetable) or along the winter hiking trail on Schweizerhausstrasse past the Wasserfall restaurant and over the monastery meadow to Engelberg Monastery.
